The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has asked companies listed on the Indian stock markets to appoint at least one woman on their board of directors by April 1, 2015, or face regulatory action.  Given the limited pool of women candidates with prior board experience, companies may “have to expand their horizons and start looking at women who are board-ready but have not yet been appointed to boards.”, says Shachi Irde, executive director at Catalyst India.
