The National Institute of Engineering, Mysore, has stood out as a preferred place for recruiters, especially because of its approach to imparting to students’ knowledge and skills relevant to the industry.

Speaking on the occasion of NIE witnessing record placements, Dr G. Ravi, Principal, NIE Mysore, said, “We have been concerned at reports that the job market is slowing for Engineers. We are happy that companies who have become choosy about campuses they visit, have chosen NIE to visit. They made early bets on students who interned with them. It confirms        my belief that there is no shortage of jobs for well-trained engineers from colleges like NIE. We will lay further emphasis on  internships to make students employable. NIE is looking forward to a strong ‘Placement year “.

Further, throwing light on the gradual growth in the placements, Harshith Divakar, Training and Placement officer, NIE Mysuru said, “India’s job market is finally seeming to be warming up. Campus placements have improved compared to last year. NIE    has improved 40% of campus placements compared to last year. NIE is likely to overtake the overall number of placements of the 2017-18 batch in the first three months of recruitments. Many first time recruiters are making domestic and global Job offers.   There is a 15% to 20 % hike in the salary offered by several organizations. This tells us that NIE Students have adapted to the major technological trends in India. There is also a huge shift from hiring graduate resource to more skilled resource. We are closely observing value hires rather than volume hires. In fact, the employers participated are happy by certain best practices followed by NIE like a six-month internship and industry-driven electives”.
